Northeast Lantern was born in 1987 when a young craftsman, Gordon Heal, fulfilled his dream of opening his own craftshop to produce quality solid brass and copper lighting fixtures with colonial characteristics at a reasonable price.
Northeast Lantern exists to provide high quality solid brass and copper lighting fixtures through their highly skilled and dedicated employees, excellent customer service and proficient manufacturing process. The Northeast Lantern lifetime guarantee and unique ability to customize any of their fixtures ensure confidence and satisfaction amongst their customers. Northeast Lantern continually innovates and improves their American made lighting fixtures to maintain a competitive edge in the industry and keep up with market demands.
Northeast Lantern prides themselves in using original manufacturing methods with tools and machines that are operated by manpower at our modern Exeter, NH facility.
Each lantern's parts are cut, bent, and soldered by a craftsman employing his own unique skills. When complete, each craftsman signs off on the fixture he has produced to reflect his pride and take ownership of the quality in the piece he has produced.
Once the fixture has its basic frame the finishing department takes every light and adds one of our seven antique finishes. This process can take anywhere from a half an hour to a couple of hours depending on the desired finish.
The fixtures are then off to the final stage in the process, the wiring department. Here the fixtures are again hand rubbed to achieve the antique finish and consistent appearance. The electrical is appropriately placed into the fixtures and approved for UL requirements. Glass is the last item to be added. Each fixture gets one last quality check before it's off to the shipping department where it is meticulously packaged and shipped to you.
